Doug is an active member of the local community. In addition to sitting on the Helping Hands board, he sits on the board of the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area and Co-Chairs the Couchiching Conservancy’s Advisory Council. He has previously served on the board of the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Nature Conservancy of Canada (Ontario) and others.
Doug is a retired KPMG Partner and was with the firm for 32 years. He currently provides board and finance advisory services on a part time basis. He earned his Chartered Accountant (now Chartered Professional Accountant) designation in 1983 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Toronto.
Doug and his wife Charon moved to Oro-Medonte in 2017 and love the area, its waters and forests, its recreational opportunities and the strong level of community support for organizations like HH.
As a person who believes in giving back to the community, Doug is looking forward to helping area seniors and physically disabled adults enjoy a better quality of life through the services that Helping Hands provides.
