Bringing Independence Home

Community Support Services for Seniors and Adults with Physical Disabilities

COVID-19 Response Update

As we move past a full year of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’d like to take a moment to thank our wonderful clients and staff for their efforts to keep us all safe and well.  At Helping Hands, our top priority continues to be the health and wellbeing of our clients, our staff, and our volunteers.  While we are committed to providing essential services (including Meals on Wheels, homemaking, personal support, and transportation), we appreciate your patience as we inevitably must make some alterations to schedules etc. to support staffing levels and client need during this time.

Please know that we are following ministry updates closely and working internally to take every precaution to reduce the risk of spread within our community.    In fact, as Community Support Service workers, our front-line team has begun their first round of COVID-19 vaccinations.  Other efforts include daily screening of staff and clients prior to service initiation, education to all staff on appropriate use of personal protective equipment, and clients are required to wear a mask when coming in contact with a Helping Hands staff member, when able to do so.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and do what we can to limit service disruption while making every effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Thank you for your continued support.  Together we can make a difference!

Shelley Cameron, CEO

Community In-Home Care & Caregiver Support Services

Helping Hands was established in 1972 and has had a proud history of serving clients in our community by assisting them to live independently, support them in their journey of aging, and to maintain and enhance their quality of life. As a multi-service, registered charitable organization, Helping Hands serves older adults and adults with physical disabilities residing in Orillia and surrounding townships of Severn, Oro-Medonte, and Ramara, as well as Barrie and Muskoka. Our services have evolved over the years to meet the needs of our clients and to support our health care system. However, providing in-home care and caregiver support remains at the heart of Helping Hands.
