Helping Hands encourages our clients to access the nsmhealthline.ca website or call 310-2222 (no area code required) for accurate and up-to-date information about health services across North Simcoe Muskoka. nsmhealthline.ca is an innovative website that puts information about health services at the fingertips of Helping Hands clients, provides easy access to a reliable source of data, and empowers our clients to find the services they need close to home.

ILS – Independent Living Services
Independent Living Services of Simcoe County & Area exists to provide support and services to people with physical disabilities or limitations in Simcoe County, to assist them to lead dignified, productive and independent lives.

Brain Injury Services
Brain Injury Services Muskoka Simcoe provides community services to adults and families living with the on-going effects of an acquired brain injury (ABI). Funded by the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the agency offers individual, group, and day program supports. All programs focus on individual independence and the development/maintenance of functional living skills.

IPAC Canada is a national, multidisciplinary association committed to the wellness and safety of Canadians by promoting best practices in infection prevention and control through education, standards, advocacy and consumer awareness.

Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle
Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) collectively serves as a regional social planning organization based upon the concepts of life long learning, self determination, and community participation. Helping Hands has partnered with BANAC to provide culturally safe home care in the Barrie, Orillia and Muskoka LHIN sub regions to those who self-identify as Indigenous and world prefer culturally safe services.

HCC
HCC provides assistance with health care services at home, at school or in the community, supported living programs or long-term care options. HCC works with people of all ages to ensure they can make informed choices about their care, when and where they need it. They also have useful information about local community support service agencies, and can link people to these providers to arrange services.

LHIN
We are proudly funded by the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). This allows us to provide our clients with the services we offer as cost-effectively as possible. We work with the LHIN to plan and integrate health care services in our region.

OSMH
Helping Hands provides transportation services that enable our clients, throughout the region, to access the services they need at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). Getting our clients to and from the professional services they can access at OSMH is an important aspect of our operations.

VON
Helping Hands maintains an important working relationship with the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). Helping Hands is the contracted services provider for the ‘Home at Last’ program, through the VON, here in Orillia, and we are happy to work with the VON in providing health care services in our region.

ODSP
We work closely with the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) to coordinate certain services for our clients. For these clients, ODSP provides funding for these services.

Alzheimer Society of North East Simcoe County
Many of our clients can access dementia related support and services through the Alzheimer’s Society. This organization provides important services to those clients and family members who need assistance with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

211
211 provides a valuable resource for our clients and families to acquire information on the many services they need to maintain their quality of life in our region. Organizations, including Helping Hands, update their information regularly, making it a reliable and comprehensive source for information.

CARP
Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) is a valuable resource for our clients by providing advocacy, insurance and other services for seniors.

SALT
Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT), here in Orillia, provides our clients with safety awareness and crime prevention information targeted for seniors.

OCSA
Helping Hands is a proud member of the Ontario Community Support Association. This Association provides important advocacy and resources to help Community Support Service organizations improve their operations and client services.

CFHT
Many of our clients access the Couchiching Family Health Team (CFHT), here in Orillia, for many of their professional health care needs. Helping Hands provides our clients with safe and reliable transportation services to this centre for their health care needs.

NSMH Palliative Care Network
The North Simcoe Muskoka Hospice Palliative Care Network (NSMHPCN) is an alliance of health care providers, volunteers, and consumers who help clients in our community access whole person care that relieves suffering and improves the quality of living and of dying.

Sharing Place Food Bank
The Sharing Place Food Bank is the Orillia area’s largest and busiest food bank, providing clients with nutritious food options.

City of Orillia
The City of Orillia provides a number of programs and services for our clients. The City also provides a wealth of information about the various organizations in our community that provide housing, food bank, and social services.

Telecare Distress Line
Telecare Distress Line of Greater Simcoe County is a free and anonymous support line providing access to a caring, non-judgmental, confidential listener 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Information Orillia
Information Orillia provides our clients with community information for Orillia, Oro-Medonte, Severn, Ramara and Rama First Nation. Their Community Database contains detailed information on community, health and social services, arts, culture and recreation, clubs and organizations, and government services.

Hospice Orillia
Hospice Orillia offers practical, emotional and spiritual support to those in our community coping with advanced illness, death and bereavement.

Orillia Housing Resource Centre
The Orillia Housing Resource Centre provides information and support to those in the community who are searching for suitable housing.

NSMCSS Collaborative
Helping Hands is a member of the North Simcoe Muskoka Community Support Services Collaborative (NSMCSS Collaborative). The Collaborative is a group of LHIN-funded agencies providing a range of community services that enable the residents of North Simcoe and Muskoka to live safely and independently in their homes and communities.

Simcoe County (Transportation)
Helping Hands is part of the Local Health Integration Network’s (LHIN) Care Connections structure, focused on creating an integrated health system. As members of the Community Transportation Committee, we work with the County to enhance transportation services in our region.
